1958年9月生于重庆；
现为中国美协会员，中国美协美术教育委员会委员，中国油画学会理事，重庆市油画学会会长，四川美术学院二级教授，硕士生导师。重庆市突出贡献中青年专家，重庆市政府文艺奖获得者。
作品入选第八、九、十、十一、十三届全国美展。
作品被中国美术馆，中国国家画院，大都美术馆，中华儿女美术馆，大连美术馆，遵义美术馆，宁夏美术馆，鳳凰艺都美术馆，重庆美术馆等收藏。

一年四季，春、夏、秋、冬，常年都在外面。但真正的现场画雪景，却只在去年的冬天在塞罕坝尝试过一次，而且失败。零下27度，超出了人能承受的极限。所以有时我在想，常看到一些朋友在大冬天很冷的气温下户外写生，我感到不可思议。因为人的本能肯定是让你调动体內所有能调动的资源去抵抗寒冷，哪里还有可以用来画画的能量空间？更不要说画出好画。也许就是因为画雪景太冷，无法实现在现场画画的遗憾所致吧，我反而在工作室画了一批又一批的雪景。当然，雪景单纯、宁静、清雅、高远。除却了浮华，过滤了喧嚣，山尖，房顶，树枝，田坎上的积雪，恰如其分地勾勒出一幅幅既空灵又真实的意境。
我从小接触到一些传统的山水画，我的启蒙老师也是既画油画也画山水画的。这潜在的影响着我。我经常在外写生，会有旁人或朋友会说看你的风景画，好想走进去，住在画里，玩在其中。所谓＂可居，可游＂。其实，这就是中国传统山水画最重要的审美价值。它强调＂我在＂，强调＂天人合一＂。画家既是风景的描绘者，更是意境的参与者，创造者。所以传统山水画中的＂造境＂和＂逸情＂一直深深的影响着我的油画风景创作。
户外写生是我的工作方式，更是生活的重要内容。我享受这种生活。我并非＂吃苦耐劳型＂相反还特别＂怕苦怕累＂，只是现在外出条件确实太好，一点也不觉辛苦。写生是我的＂幼儿学＂，我的启蒙老师一开始就是带着我写生。写生的乐趣是其他任何创作方式不可替代的。我常说写生与创作不对立，只是侧重不同。长期只画＂创作＂的人，可能不一定能＂写生＂。而长期＂写生＂的人，一定能画好＂创作＂。因为在写生中所面临的问题，并非像有的人说的只是一个技巧问题。写生是观与思，心与手，物与我的高度统一。没有＂思＂的＂观＂，看到的是表像。沒有＂心＂的＂手＂，是被动的描画，沒有＂我＂的＂物＂是沒有灵魂的自然。须知，风景如画，但风景毕竟不是画！
